Children’s Auditions

In the stage version of THE LION KING there are two children's roles: Young Simba and Young Nala.
We are always looking for children aged 8-11 to join our Cub School training programme, which will teach them skills in acting, movement and singing to later audition to potentially play these roles professionally in the West End or on Tour.

Young Simba is brave, athletic and energetic.

Young Nala (Young Lioness)

Young Nala is brave, athletic and energetic.

Applicants for Cub School must be between ages 8 and 11 and below 140cm (4’6”) in height.

Children are not required to prepare anything in advance of the Cub School auditions. One parent or guardian must accompany each child to the audition and stay on the premises until the audition has ended.

Cub School takes place once a week after school during term time. It is a free performance-training programme from which the roles of Young Simba and Young Nala are cast. During the programme, teachers who are associated with THE LION KING train children in the disciplines of dance, voice and acting. Training lasts for a minimum of 8 weeks to a maximum of 6 months. Whilst winning a place in Cub School does not guarantee a part in the stage musical, it has proven to be excellent training for young people with the ambition to work on stage.
